A 52 Card Shoot-Em Up.
I signed up for the Jame Gam 11 a couple weeks back. The theme was '4 colors' and it conditionally required to have 'a gun' as an object in the game. I had a rough idea of a gun that would shoot 4 colors in a bit of an Elevator Action style mechanic. I built out a few of the components - but alas life got in the way and I had to abandon the jam...
But not the game!
It's now become my official 'tinker' project. I clock in a few minutes every morning just so I don't forget the code and what's going on. The game has evolved in possibly the worst scope creep I've ever seen in my life. I've added a slew of unnecessary systems, everything is just an ugly placeholder for 'some good art later', and generally the entire gameplay loop is still non-existent. It's quite the fuzzy mess, but I'm having a good time when I do get to work on it and the programming challenges feel like they are at the right level (a lot of array messing around).
So, just to keep track of this colossal mess I've started a devlog. I'm hoping it will help me clarify some of my objectives with the game so it doesn't go too far off the path.
Cards of Duty: A Gunny-Wars Story
A game I'm making to learn a few more basic programming concepts.
